Hi. The Government guidelines do not give an requirements on electrics, so you are free to do what you want.
You definitely do not need to fit a TV.
I would recommend fitting some 12v lights to light up the inside of the living space, not just to make it a nice place to sit and sleep at night, but also in case they ask to inspect your vehicle, they will be happy to see some lights inside.DarrenKeymasterHi Darla
I think it is possible.
It will need some careful planning.DarrenKeymasterI can’t see the switch in detail from the ebay listing.
I assume it is one of the switches in the panel?
If you solder the positive wired from all six lights to one side of the switch, and then power the other side of the switch with a live feed from the fuse box, all six lights will come on when you turn on the switch. The negative wire from all six s lights will need to be earthed, either to the van chassis/walls or back to the battery.DarrenKeymasterHi
You can cut the plugs of and connect the positive wire from each downlight to the switch.
Your switch should be powered by a positive wire from the fuse box.Post pictures if you like, I have enabled image uploads.
DarrenKeymasterHi
Nice to hear from you.
Sounds like you have a very nice vehicle.
My tips would be to try and make as much storage as you can in the vehicle.
Also make the sleeping area comfortable and easy to make.DarrenKeymasterHi, nice to hear of your build and experiences.
Looks like you got a great conversion. What are your travel plans?
DarrenKeymasterHi
This is complicated and I think you need to contact the authorities in both Malta and Spain to clarify the situation.
In the UK, if you want to register a vehicle it needs to be bought into the country to have a MOT roadworthiness test.
I suspect Malta and Spain are the same.
Try these searches which should help:DarrenKeymasterHmm, that seems like far to much space. I have a Waeco fridge and it only has 1 or 2 cms each side and works perfectly well.
I don’t see why it would need 30 cms.February 17, 2018 at 9:27 am in reply to: DIY poptop to new Traffic lwb.. Will I void warranty???? #154604DarrenKeymasterHi
I think you will certainly void parts of the warranty if you cut in the body shell.
If you are fitting a roof, or doing a DIT conversion I don’t see that you have a choice, you have to go for it.
Have faith, measure 10 times, cut once! Good luck.DarrenKeymasterIf you are encountering any cold weather I’d recommend at least some floor insulation. I didn’t on mine (other than plywood) and the floor is a little too cool on cold mornings.
DarrenKeymasterThe silver sheet will offer some insulation but not noise dampening, like you say.
I wouldn’t worry too much about sound insulation through the floor, as most noise comes in from the walls and roof when you are inside the vehicle.
If you will use the vehicle a lot in cold weather than definitely consider a more substantial floor insulation, but for spring/summer/autumn use the foil will be sufficient.DarrenKeymasterHi Vonjean
Great to hear from you, and thanks for sharing your stories.
It sounds as though you have had many many great adventures over the years.
And what a fabulous place to have those adventures.
I hope your new vehicle brings you as many adventures as your last one.All the best
Darren
DarrenKeymasterHis approach is correct. You can build wooden floor onto which to sit all of the furniture.
I can see why you would want to leave the rubber floor down.
Is he going to insulate the floor, underneath the plywood?DarrenKeymasterHi
Nice to hear from you, and of your adventure.
The Iberian peninsular is one of my favourite place to travel in a campervan.
Where are you heading first?DarrenKeymasterI would recommend finding someone local to you.
I would recommend a company than converts campervans, or a motorhome dealer who has a workshop.
The former is likely to be cheaper. - AuthorPosts
