    I had a narrowboat for 3
I had a narrowboat for 3 years and ran a 12v television without using an inverter. Certain types of flat screen computer monitors are ideal. Just connect then straight to the 12v.

If the TV use an adapter
If the TV use an adapter between it and the mains then check what the output of the adapter is. Usually something like 12v 5a. Once you know this just get a cigarette lighter adapter from maplins to suit. Loads available for most applications.
