After a night of heavy rain and winds we have a day of heavy rain and winds! I checked the weather report of several areas across Europe and it is affecting everywhere. It must be a big weather front or storm.
The waves in Baleal bay are massive, but very messy. There is a cleaner area to the east, just inside the Baleal causeway. Some shortboard surfers are surfing there. The other side of the causeway has a very sheltered clean little wave, but this has many surfers with bigger boards. There is a clean wave further out, on a reef. This has been packed, presumably with locals, since I had my morning coffee at 9am.
I take a drive into town. I need to print some documents, and get some cash. I see the old prison, but I don’t find much more of a town. I find an internet café, but I need to get a WiFi connection before going there to print.
I head to Supertubos, which is predictably all blown out. I find the supermarket and get supplies. I realise that the big campsite is the municipal one, which is supposed to be very cheap. I think I will stay there tonight, or maybe try down at the beach a little further down the coast.
I am not sure if I will surf today. I have learnt that a bad surf is worse than no surf. The weather is very angry at the moment. I will wait until it calms down. I have though about going to the nearby town of Obidos, which is supposed to be very beautiful. But I think my sightseeing days are over. I will probably sit in the car park and work on websites.
