Well we’re back from our first weekend away in the new motorhome “Zog” and thought I would write a blog to remind me of how we got on. We packed Zog and met Mark at work as usual at 6pm. We set off for “Wild Slack” farm with some directions off the website.

Well we’re back from our first weekend away in the new motorhome “Zog” and thought I would write a blog to remind me of how we got on. We packed Zog and met Mark at work as usual at 6pm. We set off for “Wild Slack” farm with some directions off the website. As usual we got lost, we didn’t set the Satnav ’cause they told us it wouldn’t take us the easiest ways aqs it is over the North Yorkshire moors which have lots of tiny little dirt track roads a gnats width and very steep hills. We eventually got there about 7pm after calling the farmer for further directions. It was very nice and there were a few caravans there we were the only camper.

When the farmer saw my son he said would he like to see a new born calf! So me and Rider went to see that and left mark to turn on the electrics, gas and make sure we were level (he likes doing that kind of thing thank goodness ’cause I’m useless). There were loads of calves just been born that were so cute andmassive bulls, we saw chickens nesting in hay bales and there was a duck pond 1 min away. We were really happy with the site and had a cuppa in the new camper used the toilet loads (it’s a novelty that I’m sure wont wear off after having nothing in our previous camper) and then made the beds up. Rider’s “bedroom” (the space over the cab) was already made up so he just put his books, some toys and “ratty” his trusty soft toy that goes everywhere with him in their correct places and we all turned in.

In the morning it was quite cold, but really great, there was lots of birdlife going out right outside the windows and the farmer was getting on with his work. My mam txt to say they would come up with my niece, who’s the same age as Rider and we would go to Lealolm for dinner.

Mark decided to wash some cups up turned the water on and nothing came out! We checked the water level and it was quarter of tank, we thought we should be alright, but when I went outside I saw loads of water leaking from the bottom of the van. Mark came out, examined it and gave his opinion that there was a leak from either the seal or a hole in the outlet tap. I was really upset as I like everything to be just right, so mark got underneath it to have a look. He got all mucky ’cause of the muddy wet water but worked out that the tap wasn’t in the pipe right and that there was a small hole in the pipe. We rang Cleveland Motorhome and they said they would fix it first thing monday am while we waited. As it went Mark spend about an hour underneath “Zog” and announced that he was fixed! Hurray!!! Now we could try the water out and make drinks and wash up and everything I had been looking forward too.

We spent the rest of the day at lealolm with my family paddling in the stream, walking over stepping stones, eating ice cream and sunning ourselves in the bar it was such a glorious day. We walked to and from the farm so must have done a fair few miles, but it was such lovely countryside with so many things to see that it was a pleasure and neither of the kids moaned once for a carry!

After my mum went home, we all had a shower, made some tea in the little kitchen got our jamas on and settled down to watch a dvd. We were up early to get mark to work on time on Sunday morning and arrived home about 9am.

All in all a fantastic first weekend in our new camper and i’m planning next weekend already.
xx
