Espiche to Arrifana, Algarve, Portugal

It’s another warm and sunny day when I wake at 08:30. I take my time having breakfast. The surf forecast is about 5ft today, so I am tempted to go to Arrifana, on the west coast. It is a reasonable drive, about 40kms.

I drive to Arrifana, and park at the top of the cliff top. The waves look good. I take a surf in the afternoon which is good.

It is a beautiful beach and bay. The high cliff sides offer shelter from the winds. This beach faces south a little, and makes the waves a little smaller than other beaches on the west coast. My friends Craig and Fern are at Barranco, and they tell me the waves are smaller there. I deicide to stay here for the night, as the waves are better. I chat to some German chaps who are parked next to me. They have enjoyed the last few days here, but are now off to meet a friend. I bid them a farewell.

I spend the night at Arrifana.
