Vila Praia de Ancora and Viana

I take a drive into Viana to try and find the surf shops. The shops have little selection or have closed. It is raining all morning and I get pretty wet. I dry off in the van drinking coffee. I drive to the beach area, the long way around as the bridge is closed. The surf shop there has only a small selection of boards.

The guy says he will get some boards in for me, and gives me his card.

I head back to the campsite at Vila Praia de Ancora. I have so many bug bites on me its annoying. I decide I should move on from this campsite. I think I am the only person here now. I have a think and decide to drive on to Peniche tomorrow. Mainly so that I can find a surf shop with a good selection, as the German guys said there where many there, but also for better weather. My surf guide suggests there are a few shops there. I check the sat nav program and it says the journey will take between 4 and 6 hours. I think I had better take the toll roads to avoid the bad roads and reduce time. Hopefully they won’t be too expensive.

It rains extremely hard in the evening, so much so that little beads of water run inside the side door of the van. The worst of the rain passes, and the van holds tight. I can’t imagine that I will experience any rain harder than that. Hopefully the weather will improve further south.
