Peniche to Porto

I check the beach in the morning, the clean surf around Baleal is small. I do not have time to venture off today. I return to the campsite and pack my bag for my trip to Porto.

I get the bus at 14:45. It is full after the first few towns. There are many students, and it is Friday. The bus stops at Coimbra. I realise the ticket says it stops for 1 hour. I didn’t expect this.

I get the bus at 14:45. It is full after the first few towns. There are many students, and it is Friday. The bus stops at Coimbra. I realise the ticket says it stops for 1 hour. I didn’t expect this. It is cooler now and I change into trousers in the bus stop toilets, which are some of the filthiest I have ever seen.

I go into the café upstairs, and order a coffee, in Portuguese. The friendly guy recognises I am English and asks if I want anything else. I say ‘what is the best’, and he serves me a pastry. The pastry is ok, I have had better in Portugal. I get on the next bus and arrive in Porto at 21:10. I call Carlos and he picks me up. We head back to his flat and I meet Martin. We have a fish dinner. Carlos’s cousin comes over, with her boyfriend. We chat and then head out into town. We meet more friends of Carlos’s, they all speak good English and are friendly. We drink until late and get home at about 03:00.
