I put a screw in both end posts and cut the heads off to form a pin. I then lowered the slats down onto them and pressed down. This left a mark on the slat assembly which I then drilled to a size slightly larger than the pin, thereby forming a locking device which will pull the slats out when you pull the two handles. Clever stuff eh?
