Well I have finally done it 🙂 I have just got myself an LDV Convoy Extra High Roof, which I intend converting to a camper, but which can also take dogs. I have 2 daughters under 15 and myself and at least one dog. One of the things I will need to do is remove the back roller door as it is wooden and has travel guides which take a lot of room. Has anyone ever removed these before and replaced with barn doors?
Regardless of that, I am thinking of fitting 5 crates permanently, 3 across the back long-ways – accessible through the back doors, and 2 width-wise in front of them accessible from inside the van. These will take up circa 1850cm x 1550cm. On top of these I am thinking of placing a large bed area.
This will leave me with roughly the same area in which to put sink, cooker and w/c if possible :/ of course I will probably rethink this over and over as I will need a table and seating with safety-belts. Has anyone here ever converted a van for use such as mine will be?
I am handy enough at DIY and so will be able to do all myself I think – with advice here and there on the specialist stuff. I am new to camping and so will appreciate any advice given. I will be posting pics and progress as I go along and am very excited about it 🙂
