Lisbon day 5 – Colombo shopping centre, and the bus back to Porto Covo

I have breakfast and check out of the hostel. I take the Metro to the Colombo shopping centre. I am not a big fan of spending hours walking around shopping centres, but did enjoy it at the Oceanarium shopping centre, and there are a few things I would like to buy.

The centre is very quiet when I arrive before 10am. Today is a national holiday in Portugal, and it will get busier.

The centre is very quiet when I arrive before 10am. Today is a national holiday in Portugal, and it will get busier. I get a coffee and take a seat. I take a long walk around the centre. I find some lockers and stash my things. I find a music store and buy some long overdue guitar strings. I buy 4 books from the Fnac store, which are also well overdue. I think I have enough books now to last the rest of my trip.

I buy a meal from a Brazilian restaurant which is excellent. As well as tasting great the food looks fantastic. After, I go to the cinema and watch the new Hannibal Rising movie, the book of which I read just a few weeks ago. The film is great.

I have plenty of time and make my way to the Metro, and then to the bus terminal. I buy my ticket to Porto Covo. I have an hour to wait, so I settle on a bench outside and ready my novel. After a while I check my watch and I’m stunned to see it is 45 minutes later, and only 15 minutes until my bus. If I had waited much longer there is a chance I would have missed the bus. I had no idea time went so quickly when reading. I check the bus but it has not arrived yet. Shortly after the bus arrives I jump on. It’s a pleasant ride back to Porto Covo, the bus being exactly on time. I find my van exactly as I left it. I head back to ‘Camp Ostrich’ and meet the others. I have an early night as I am tired.
