I wake nice and early, with my body clock still set to Spanish time. This is good as I want to hit the road early, and met Steve at Amado. I have a wash, drink coffee and head to the Intermache. The supermarket is closed, so I decide to drive on to the EcoMarche closer towards Sagres.
When I get to the EcoMarche it is till 15 minutes from opening. I stand and take in the early morning view, which is beautiful. I notice a large number of Brits outside, and inside the store once it opens. I do my shopping and am leaving the car park when I get a text message from Steve. He says Amado is flat, and that he is heading towards Malhao. This is fine with me, as I don’t like the crowds of the Algarve, although I do love the area.
I head towards Malhao. When I drive through Aljezur I see Steve’s van parked up. He is not there, so I leave a message on his windscreen. The drive to Malhao was as bad as it was previously. I get to Malhao in good time though. I take a little bike ride, and chat with some Brits, before Steve arrives.
We say hello, and head in for a surf. I don’t have a great surf, but it’s nice to get in. Afterwards we eat, drink beer and chat. We have another surf in the sunset. I again don’t have a great surf. Steve and I decide I need to work on my takeoffs tomorrow.
I have really liked being back in Portugal. When I left several months ago I was keen to leave and re-enter Spain. That thrill was shot lived though, and I find myself happy to be back in Portugal.
