Gibraltar

During the night, a little after Midnight, we heard several scooters park next to the van and turn off their engines. We both wake up and see three lads on scooters right next to the van. From their movements it seems they are hiding, behind the van, from someone on the road. They keep peeking around the cab at the road. I guess they are hiding from the Police, or from someone else.

We are peeking through the cab curtains at them when one of them spots us. He steps back and gestures that nothing is going on, they are just having a smoke. They back away from the van a little, wait away, seem to take a phone call, start their engines and ride off. We’re pretty certain they were just hiding from someone, and not causing a threat to us, but it made us anxious. We sat and watched the traffic outside for a while, watch some spavs (Spanish-Chavs) dance around their car from across he street, and go back to sleep.

In the morning we feel a little anxious about what happened last night. We had planned to visit a campsite nearby, and decide to hear there.

It’s a nice campsite, very neat and tidy. We’re surprised by some of the staff. And then quickly realise that opposite is a care centre for people with learning difficulties, and the people there help at the campsite. It’s a great thing to see.

We cycle to Gibraltar and ride through customs on our bikes, barely flashing our passports. We park up at the bike rack in the tunnel and start looking around.

We spend the day looking at shops and having drinks. The weather forecast is not so good for tomorrow, so we decide to do everything touristy we want to do today.
We walk over to the cable car and go up. The views are fantastic.
