El Palmar and Conil, Andalucía, Spain

In the morning Steve says he wants to go to Conil and have a coffee to repay me for my beers we had last night. I notice that Steve has a bike, and I ask him how he finds having to store it. He says ‘it is worth the effort’, and I decide I should buy a bike. We get to Conil, where a massive market is in progress. We walk around, but almost all of the stalls are selling clothes and some food.

He says ‘it is worth the effort’, and I decide I should buy a bike. We get to Conil, where a massive market is in progress. We walk around, but almost all of the stalls are selling clothes and some food. We take a walk into town and grab a coffee. We find a bike and moped shop. Steve’s Spanish is better than mine and he helps me out. They have a bike which the owner wants €90 for. We try and haggle, but he won’t budge. He even tries to raise the price, but I think it is a genuine mistake. I decide to buy it. We have to return after a coffee so that he can fix it up a little. We take a walk around, but skip the coffee. Steve drives into town and I pick up the bike, after buying a lock for it.

We get back to El Palmar and I fix the bike up a little. In the afternoon I go for a surf and catch the two best waves I have ever caught. Each time I take off too far off the shoulder, turn back into the white-water, then turn away and ride the wave. The felling is great. My surfing is really coming along now.

In the evening Simon turns up. We decide to park nearer the back of the car park. Andy, who I have already met, also joins us. Later a chap called Liam joins us. In the evening we all sit around and drink beers.
