I don’t feel too bad in the morning. On my way to Heathers she spots me in a café and calls out. I stop and have coffee with Heather and Isa. Isa goes and Heather and I decide to go for a swim. I get my stuff and met her at the beach. It’s cold when we get in. It rains whilst we are in the sea, and everything gets soaked as me make our way back. It was worth it though.
I have a shower at Heathers and we talk for a while. I say my goodbyes and head off to Santa Maria.
I stop at the Decathlon store in Santa Maria. I buy a new mountain bike for €99. I also buy by a head torch, computer for the bike, compass, bottle and rack for the bike. I leave the old bike in the car park.
I head off towards Antequera. My satellite navigation unit suggests a pay road. I hesitantly follow the directions. When I leave the road I realise I have been on the road before, I don’t remember worrying about the toll then, which I didn’t need to pay. I make my way along the same roads I took to Arcos and Ronda. I enjoy the scenery a second time. I pass Ronda and eventually come to Antequera.
Antequera is set in a stunning landscape of snow capped mountains. The modern fringe is not as nice, but I notice a Lidl and then a shopping centre. I park at the shopping centre, and for another day, spend over an hour looking around in the shops. I only buy some toilet chemical and cheap brackets which I hope will be ok for putting my bike on the back of the van, for €7! It’s colder up here.
I drive back to a spot I saw on the way in. I park amongst some trucks which are stopped overnight. It’s not pretty but should be fine, and it’s quieter than last night in Cadiz.
I text Heather and suggest we get together for Tapas when we both get back. She replies saying she’d like to.
