Windy Peniche

The winds are back. The weather is changeable all day. I have a surf at Lagide, but the off-shore wind is so strong that everyone struggles to catch the waves. I spend some time in the van, drinking coffee. The big ship that was floating in the bay has washed up in the middle of Baleal beach. There is a crowd there all day. I go down and take a look.

I find a recommended restaurant that does cheap chicken and chips, but it is not what I expected. It’s a bit soulless so I have a chorizo omelette in the van.

I spend time at Baleal beach in the afternoon. I notice several other guys, who I have seen around, are travelling on their own. I watch one of them, and see that my van has a lot more space than a VW Transporter. There have been several moments when I wished I had a smaller van, but now I am glad I do not. I take a surf at Baleal beach, but the waves are inconsistent and the wind is strong. I head back to the campsite, and park in a different place trying to shelter from the wind, which seems to be at its strongest now.
