Sunny but windy day at Playa de Meron, Cantabria, Spain

After a heavy night of rain the sun finally arrives. It’s very windy today, but the sun shines for most of it. Last night Steve and I went for beers with Guido and his girlfriend, the Swiss couple we met.

I take several drives around the area and further away to some beaches I had heard of. The waves are big, and the wind means no surfing today.

In the afternoon I chat with John, the uncle of Craig, who I spent a lot of the winter with. John says that the wind is dying away and the swell getting to a good size for the next week or so. This is good news as my spirit has been flagging this last week or so. Although I have been surfing a lot, and making good progress, the weather has been getting me down. I am keen to return home. Not just to see my family and friends, but to get back to the home comforts of showers and electricity. I am also excited to get back to work on my websites. I really want to make a good effort with them, and to make a lot of money. I hope to spend the next 4 week in this area, surfing and enjoying what I hope will be good weather.

I had though about driving to the south of France for a while. It is an area I wanted to visit on this trip. After doing some reading I realise that the area is much more developed than I had imagined. I have decided to stay here, and explore the south of France on another trip.

The lack of sunshine recently has meant that I did not have very much electricity in my van batteries. I have done a good amount of work, but not as much as I would have liked. I am pleased with the amount of work I have done on this trip, but I am looking forward to getting home and really getting down to it. I have done quite a lot of research recently and I am excited about putting it into practice.

The bad weather of late has been a bit of a shock. When Steve and I left Portugal, 4 weeks or so ago, the weather was fantastic. When crossing Spain we had some bad weather around Madrid, but this was expected. When in Barcelona the weather was again fantastic, except for a morning of rain. I really was surprised to have had so much cloud and rain of late. I hope the weather does stabilise and make these last few weeks of my trip great.
