LLanes and San Vincente de la Barquera

I decide to spend the day killing time before heading to Comillas tomorrow. I drive down from the mountains towards Llanes. The van’s leisure batteries are running low so I take my time to ensure that they are charged up.

I take a long walk around Llanes. It is quite a bit town. I keep my eye open for a camping shop, as I really need a new sleeping bag.

I take a long walk around Llanes. It is quite a bit town. I keep my eye open for a camping shop, as I really need a new sleeping bag. I don’t see one, only some hardware stores selling very basic camping equipment.

I drive onto San Vincente de la Barquera. It is a pretty town, with the large fish market the centre of its trade. I walk around, which doesn’t take very long. Still no camping shops. I notice some beaches on the other side of the bay, and drive over. As I drive into one of the car parks I am surprised to find many camper vans in there. This is clearly a popular spot for vans. Most are left-hand drive and collected together on one side. I pull up beside a UK camper van, and notice a UK self build a little further down. Several Spanish cars are in the car park. There are quite a few people surfing. The waves are a couple of feet at best, and the wind cross-shore. This bay seems the most sheltered of the area, hence why the surfers must be here.

I buy some supplies in the supermarket and stay the night in the car park.
