Dune de Pyla (or Dune de Pilat), Panorama Campsite

If you’re wondering where to stay when visiting Dune de Pyla, let me give you some advice: Yelloh – Panorama Camping campsite.

Dune de Pyla is a magnificent sight. Europe’s biggest sand dune. More than 100 meters high, 500 meters wide, 3kms long, and a fantastic thing to climb, and admire the views from.

However, choosing where to stay when in your motorhome or campervan is not so easy.

There is an Aire right next to the visitors centre. It costs at least €10, which like many Aires in the region, are not good value in my opinion. Although it is right next to the visitors centre and ultimately central to the Dune. If you’re visiting for the day, like Aires and want an easy get away the Aire might be the best option for you.

However, for only a few more Euros you can get a lot more. There are several campsites near the dune, but I think the best is Panorama. The cost, out of peak season is €17 for 2 people, a campervan and electricity. The views are fantastic – over the dune and sea beyond. The campsite has private access to the souther end of the dune.

The campsite also has a great shop and restaurant, and although a little pricey, always great to have on hand. The croissants from the shop are great.

There are also swimming pools, tennis, football and a lot.

Definitely my recommended place to stay to visit Dune de Pyla.
