Castelldefels

Castelldefels is a pleasant seaside town with a massive attractive beach. This is a great place to escape the mayhem of Barcelona.

Free camping in Castelldefels

There are a number of car parks behind the beach that you can try. Some have signs prohibiting camping, but it seems to be tolerated out of season. There is a very large dirt car park on the western side of the beach road, a little way south, that should be fine all year round.

The roads from Castelldefels to Sitges

The twisty C-31 road hugs the cliffs and gives spectacular views. Although slow going, all vehicles should find the C-31 no problem. The C-32 toll road is the modern toll road, which although much quicker and easier, has few of the stunning views of the C-31.

An excellent campsite close to the town. Has a swimming pool and a good bar and restaurant with internet access. An 15 minute walk to the beach, or an easy bicycle ride. Not well signposted from all directions. It is possible to here the nearby trains. Open March – Oct. Moderately priced.

Free camping in Sitges

There are a few places around the town with free camping possibilities, do a few laps and see if you find anything suitable. Motorhomes are prohibited from parking behind some of the seafront.
There is a large dirt parking area, on the right, before the town starts, as slip road you leave the C-31 road. It is a little distance from the beach and town, but should be fine for an overnight stop.

Driving from Barcelona to the north of Spain, or vice versa

If you are driving from Barcelona to the north of Spain, or similar, consider taking the following beautiful scenic routes:

N330 from Zaragoza to Huesca and Sabinanigo. The N330 road twists through the foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range. The views are truly spectacular. Especially good is the viewing area to the north of the foothill ridge.

N240 from Sabinanigo to Pamplona. The N240 here passes the stunning turquoise blue Embalse de Yesa lake. The road hugs the lake and there are several places to stop. There are 2 campsites along this road overlooking the lake.
