Europe Holiday 2012

We have hired a “NOMAD” motorhome and are planing to travel in Europe for part of the trip and looking for sites in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and then back to the UK.

I’m travelling with my 2 adult sons (who will be my drivers) and we don’t want to be trapped in very commercial sites that remind me of a theme park.

We will want to stop and stay just outside of the major cities and towns but have also hired push bikes to get around, so local shops and tourist attractions are a must.

Any help would be very welcome as this is the first time any of us have done this type of trip. We also haven’t been to Europe before.

The UK side of the trip is taken care of by renting a holiday cottage slap bang in the middle of England so we have hired a car for that part of the trip. I would like to go to Scotland and Wales if we have time.

Thanking you all in advance for your tips.
Tracey.

Many of these countries have designated stopping areas for motorhomes.

In France they are called Aires. Some are free, some charge a small fee.

Italy and Belgium also has similar thaings. Not sure about Austria or Switzerland.

Throughout Europe you will also find small and cheap campsites, which can be simple.

    Good luck with your trip.
