So, we have been looking at a 1998 Ford Econoline.
It has no MOT, but a quote for around £900 for the work. The people selling want £2,500 for it.
The reasons we like it- it’s automatic, LPG, good insurance quote, you can get parts (even if you have to order from US), it’s small enough to park outside our house but big enough to seat 7 (we have 5 kids!) Would need to fit 2 extra seats but there is room, especially if weSeptember 28, 2012 at 9:40 am #121469conleyclanParticipantCan get some flip up ones. It

Well, buying an import has extra risks, as you seem to be aware. Parts are not as easy to get, finding someone to so the work is not always as easy. if you are happy with the insurance and parts availability then go for it. The LPG conversion will certainly keep fuel costs down, as I assume it has a big engine.
Sounds like it meets your needs.September 28, 2012 at 9:44 am #121476DarrenKeymasterWell, buying an import has

Anything else you would suggest?
We have been looking for a few months and there doesn’t seem to be many automatics around.September 28, 2012 at 7:56 pm #121482conleyclanParticipantIt’s engine size is 4.6
