Hi Bit of help please Just come to start my van Citron relay let the heater plug light go off as normal. has i turn the key she just started to fire up as normal but i let the key go i think to soon and she cut out now she will not start everything else works fine its just dead when i turn the key. I have checked the main fuse,s in the glove box and all is ok

I went to start the van yesterday, it turned over for less than a second, then nothing, it did not fire up. There after no clicking or anything from the starter motor (as if a fuse had gone). Call the AA, he checked the fuses they were okay, he tried to get a live from the second terminal on the starter, and got nothing, so we tried a direct feed from the battery and also got nothing. In the end he said starter motor and we bumped it so i could get home. (nice guy, but no 100% confident with him, so take the above with a pinch of salt)
Today I fitted the new starter motor £150, and exactly the same problem is still happening, although there was one ‘appearance’ of what sounded like a few clicks, which was either the starter or a shorting wire sound.
The battery is also a few months new, so its not the batteryAnyone got any ideas.
One thought was immobilser, as it has both factory and a Toad installed, although the factory one lights go out on the dash board to say its working and once bumped it does work. I am not sure if it is a fuel cut out or starter cut out and more important how to find and test it.
The toad alarm side also seems to work, the remote opperates the doors etc and over rides the factory one, as far as I can tell it too works. It does say in the manual it should have 2 fuses in line for this alarm and I have removed the interior and traced the wires as best possible but found no fuses. Besides if the fuse had popped, surely the alarm would no function doors and lights etc, as the fuses are incoming protectors?Additional Details
AA just done a second visit, and checked earth and live and ignition live to motor all are working fine.
They seem to think its the new starter motor is faulty aswell…
Anyone offer any tests on how to test the starter motor?The other thing to check is the ignition relay as the citroen relay has an ignition relay and if it is faulty this will cause your problem
Check the earth strap between engine & chassis or engine & battery.
I can’t see it being an immobiliser fault, as sending a live feed to the starter would cause the starter to engage regardless.
If you have jump leads, use one of them & connect one end to the battery negative & the other end to a good earth point on the engine (the lifting hook on the top is a good place). If the van then starts, you have a faulty earth.Have you tried the suggestion about providing an earth from the battery directly to the engine block?
If so, then you can try using the other jump lead to run straight from the starter live terminal to the battery. If it still won’t start then when you short the solenoid to the motor terminal, then yes, the new starter’s faulty, but I seriously doubt it.Yes Batterys fine just found

Sorry All i forgot to up date this eveything is fine with the van now it was a loose wire near the starter motor
