I just updated my address on my vans V5C. while i was there i updated the number of seats from 3 to 2, as it has actually changed.
I read the notes and it said the form change was all that was needed. ( no evidence required ).So i wait and get my log book back. Address updated but no change in the number of seats.
I phoned up the DVLA and they say they missed it and the form was filled in correctly . Fair enough. Are you going to send a new one I ask ?
No they say ! they now say i need to write back with a covering letter, photographs etc. This is clearly NOT what their own website says.
So now i need to ‘try again’, wasted time and energy. My MOT is due within a few weeks and I was trying to make sure I didnt have any problems at the MOT station due to the wrong number of seats. I do hope this wont be an issue.
So lessons:
If your change is non standard then include a covering letter and photos anyway, as it seems the people at the DVLA will otherwise miss changes….
