    I’m thinking of converting a van for a trip to ireland next year, what do you think of my idea of buying a scrap caravan as a donor for interior parts? I was thinking a 2 berth caravan, and maybe converting a LWB LDV convoy or transit 🙂 Love the site, thanks Liam

    Generally I think using a scraped caravan is a good idea, but only if you are going to use a lot of it, such as the fittings from the kitchen and bathroom.

    If you are just looking for some furniture to get you started, making your own cabinets is probably easier and quicker.

    Something to consider with a caravan is that most of the furniture is glued together, to save weight, and can be difficult to take apart or alter to fit inside a camper van.

    You also need to think about disposing of the caravan and leftover parts at the end of the conversion.
