Hi all glad to be part of this community At present second attempt at building my own camper first attempt was OK but didnt have everything I needed. Now it has bed (pull out ) seating, kitchen, shower, toilet, wardrobe, cupboard etc etc. All the electrics are running either from a Zig 2000 unit or 240 hookup have built in both supplies.I am stuck on just one thing that is on the terminal block on the back of the Zig.It shows a connection of positive and negative to van battery.Does this connection just piggy back of the terminals of the van battery or should it connect to the alternator.I have the wiring diagram for the Zig and instructions but does not mention where exactly it is wired into.I understand the cable is to charge the leisure battery when moving Whatever I do I shall be fusing it at 25amps..Anybody out there to give me advice.Cheers Dave

Hi DaveIt seems that no one is able to offer any advice.
If you can post pictures of the terminal block and the wiring diagram perhaps someone can offer advice.January 19, 2015 at 2:21 pm #115611DarrenGuestHi Dave

Following on from my last comment.I,ve now found out that my Zig 2000 unit will not work as the battery charger side “has not worked for some time” according to an expert so I can,t get any 12 volt from the unit.I paid £55.00 on Ebay last October. The dealer said it had worked on the donor caravan when removed so I have only his word for it.I will write back to him but don,t hold to much hope.So do I throw the unit away and make up my own control as in conversion Mk 1 ie series of switches and fuses plus 240 battery charger for leisure battery. If I go down this route I can only stay on hook up sites and not do any wild camping.Or would a split charger and 25 amp fuse piggy backed from the van battery direct to leisure battery do the trick.Another alternative would be to let the experts build me a system to run everything for about £80.00.Money is a bit of an issue as I,m only on a state pension (just) Any body care to comment.January 31, 2015 at 10:12 am #115615WATERBLOKEParticipantZig unit

HiI would fit the spilt charge replay. It’s cheap and easy to do, and will allow you to wild camp.
You can add the 240 hookup system later if needed.
I prefer to make up my own Zig from components, as it’s tailored to the vehicle and my use. Zig units are not very good to be honest. All the best
