Free wild camping and caravan parking in Idanha-a-Nova
In Idanha-a-Nova, not far from the Boom lake, there is a place called Faraway Downs, where travelers can stay for free (wild camping or caravans). It’s close to town but isolated and wild. It’s an old farm almost abandoned for decades. It’s private property. If you’re thinking in spending sometime in the region, and you have not yet a place to park or camp, and you like wild nature, then it’s the perfect place for your next stay. We have few places. We like hippies. You pay your stay with your stay…

I’ve lived in the Beiras region
Having lived in the Beiras region, I can say its very cheap and quieter than the Algarve funnily enough.
Many small towns have water wells / taps where you can refill, many have eco points where you can unload you toilets etc.
People may stare at you and your van, but it isnt rude, they are just curious and do not see strangers much.
Food and drink is especially good value in this region. If you chat to locals they may offer you a cheap place to stay and hookup to electric etc. as many people who live in the country have farms with allot of space available.
Central portugal is a great place to visit , i hope to return in my van ( current project ) this december / jan.
