If you are getting a van
If you are getting a van converted by a company speak to them about the vehicle choices.
Depending on what layout and features you want in your campervan, a van or minibus may be more useful than the other.
Minibuses have many drawbacks, in that they typically have too much single glazed glass, that is hard to do much with.Also keep in mind that a pre-converted van, by a big name, will retain it’s value more.
Find a local conversion company, so that you can visit often. Then speak to them. Let them know what you are thinking. They might be able to help you find a vehicle, and have some suggestions for you.

I went for a minibus(ex NHS). The reasons are that in general a minibus will be in very much tidier condition than a working van and had much gentler use than a delivery van. The excess of windows are easily dealt with by just blanking out the ones you dont want. I got a high roof one which allows me good head room. The interior is very tidy with built in strip lights, speakers and over cab storage. I also found that the maintenance of the ‘bus was pretty good with a petrol/lpg 145hp engine that runs very well. Locally lpg is 57p per litre so a big saving on running cost. I sold off the seats and wheelchair lift, which allowed for captains seats and swivels. All in all a good start with little effort.van or minibus
