Can anyone think of a reason why you couldn’t make an awning from a large tent extension such as this one:

pitched up by the van with a tarp to cover the gap. I have a Vauxhall Midi high top that is similar but smaller/lower than a VW T25. The door is only about 180cm off the floor and the tent extension is 210cm.
Why can’t I find any evidence of anyone doing this? I know a proper awning would do a better job, but it would do, right?
or wrong…?

As you say, proper van awnings have a flap to connect the vehicle to the awning. A bit of tarp will do. Just ensure it is attached to the van in some way.September 4, 2011 at 8:59 pm #147492DarrenKeymasterNo reason why it wouldn’t
