I plan to rent a campervan, family size, and stay in the Lakes 31 Dec to 2 Jan 2018, Windermere area ideally. I’ve never rented a van before. Is there a recommended place to park it? Are there any sites open then so that we can plug into the electrics etc?

If you are looking to wild camp it’s worth doing some Google searches to see if anyone is recommending any sites.
If you want to stay in campsites, try using Google maps to find campsites in the area, and then check if they are open.
Most campsites will have closed during the winter, but the occasional site does stay open.
