My name is Zakk, I’m 27 years old on Monday and about to become a Father on Wednesday (if he’s on time) I come from a family of campervan/ camping enthusiasts and am pleased to say the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
I am a professional musician and often tour different parts of the world.
I have decided to take on the challenge of converting an XLWB van into my very own camper for two reasons. 1) as I’m about to start my own family I want to carry on the tradition of the lifestyle and pass it down to my children and 2) I am so sick of having to hire splitter vans for my group when we tour UK & Europe. These splitter vans have the size and potential to be converted into essentially what would be a ‘mini tour-bus’ allowing you to sleep in it and save a fortune and time on hotels. but no, they throw a load of unessential extra seats in, add some fancy strip lighting and thats about it. So I am in the ‘research and development stages of designing the perfect conversion!I even attempted to sketch out my design on google sketchup which was believe it or not easy to use once I got the hang of it. Fortunately I don’t require a toilet/shower nor a kitchen, just the basic travel essentials and the ability to sleep. Although I do intend on installing the usual entertainment appliances. would love to hear and share ideas with the community. You can view my little design online if you like by clicking this link. (it may take a minute or 2 to load) (or copy and paste if the link isn’t showing up)
