The VW LT is pretty much as good as the Sprinter. It has a different engine and gearbox most importantly.
The VW engine has a cam belt, rather than the cam chain that the Sprinter has. Therefore the VW cam belt will need changing every 60,000 miles.
I once read an experienced LT/Sprinter owner say that the LT is better up to 200,000 miles. After 200,000 miles the Sprinter is best.
The VWs are cheaper used, and I’d ve tempted to get one rather than a Sprinter.
