I am running a Dometic fridge from a split relay in a self converted Sprinter.

The fridge worked fine for a few months but now when I am driving the power to the fridge cuts in and out every 10 secs. There is an audible click as the power comes on and off

Sometimes the fridge will run fine for the first part of the journey but if I make a stop and then start again, say for petrol, then the power starts clicking on and off. Sometimes the clicking on and off starts right from the start of the journey.

I thought the fridge might be faulty but the local dometic engineer told me that the relay is cutting in and out because the fridge is drawing too much power. However I can’t find anyone else to support this theory. I have checked the wiring and it all looks fine.

The fridge works fine on gas and hook up, it’s just a 12V issue.

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions?
My next step would be a new relay, in which case I would welcome any recommendations?
    Thanks

I’d agree, it does sound like
I’d agree, it does sound like the relay.
Do you know what relay it is?
Is it a 3-way fridge (than can also run on gas) or an electric only fridge?

I think it is a Mercedes one
I think it is a Mercedes one but I am not sure as I didn’t fit it.

Any recommendations on what I should replace it with?

    Thanks
