I’m a complete newbie with van conversions and I want to add some lights as simply as possible. Could I convert the cargo bay dome light to recessed LED lights? That is remove the dome light but use the same wiring so that 6 recessed LED lights come on when the dome light should?

Just check that both systems are 12 volt, and you can re-use the wiring and switch.
