Hi all,
I’m planning to take my camper abroad for 1 year out of the UK.
I have a 1984 T25 ‘wedge’ and am currently insured by HIC.
I’m looking for one year fully comp insurance and one year breakdown cover that will remain valid for the year that I am away.
The problems I’m currently experiencing are that my current policy only covers me for up to 90 days abroad, and my breakdown cover included in this policy only lasts for 1 month abroad. The only cover I’ve been offered by my current insurer for a year abroad is for 3rd party only.
On the breakdown cover and the insurance, the age of my camper (26 yrs) is stopping companies providing me with the policies I’m looking for.
I’m planning to drive down the French and Spanish atlantic coast to Portugal where I’ll stay for 3 months, then drive to the French Alps where I’ll stay for 6 months.Does anyone know of any companies or anyway I can get fully comp insurance and breakdown cover whilst I’m away for a year?

For breakdown try ADAC. They are a German company who offer cover right across Europe.
You have to call their phone number and ask for someone who speaks English : 00491 805 10 11 12
It costs €80 per year. I understand it includes recovery when you are in the UK (via AA), but I would recommend confirming this.
I have heard good things about them.
