Simple wiring problem for the experienced. Help.
Hello all, I am wiring my Mercedes Sprinter conversion at the moment but have hit a wall. I have 5 LED lights and a 12 volt low amp fridge to attach to the leisure battery. Also I have a 300 Watt inverter and a 12 volt cigarette lighter I want to install.I do not have an external 240 volt plug. How ever I do not know what is the best thing to do. I presume for the lights and fridge, I bring all my wires and put them into a fuse box. Then I run 2 wires from the fuse box to the battery. Is this correct? If so what kind of fuse box do I get. Can someone post a picture for me of the right type fuse box to get. Also how do I wire up my inverter and cigarette lighter. Do I attach both of them directly to the leisure battery? I have searched the web and there are to many versions and I am lost. Thanks for any help.
anyone know where the fuse box is on a vw camper van?
It depends on the type and age of your vw campervan.

Hi Pacman
You've got the right idea.
I would connect each of your appliances: lights, fridge, inverter AND cigarette lighter to the fuse box. Then connect the fusebox to the battery. It's better for each appliance to have it's own fuse, just in case one goes wrong. You could even have each light on it's own separate fuse, but it's not completely necessary.
You have a few options with the fuse box. The easier is to get a pre-made distribution fuse box like this one

You connect the positive and negative from the battery to it, and then your appliances to it. Very simple.
A cheaper option than requires more work is this simple fuse box

For this one to work you would have to take the positive from the leisure battery and connect it each of the terminals on one side of the fuse box. Normally by soldering wires to it. Then wire the negative wire from the appliance to the negative of the battery, or an earthing spot/block.
Hope this helps.
