Welcome to Camper Van Life. This website has lots of information about camper vans and motorhomes.

What next?

Excellent site! Been thinking about making a stealth camper for ages ...

this is a great site - the only one of its kind i've found - great impartial sounding advice covering lots of the areas i've been thinking/worrying about before sinking my savings into a van

Hi Darren, well done mate, great site, hopefully i will upload my van conversion photos in the future to your site. 1 question; could you show me how you support the double bed when it is extended?... trying to figure out a sturdy '4th leg' system!

Was your fridge gas or electric?

Also, did you find carpet on the wall by the kitchen a problem?

Cheers.

Glad you like the site. I'll be adding features soon to allow everyone to create pages about their own camper vans.

For the bed I just used big pieces of timber, about 5cm x 5cm, cut to the same height as the seating. These where stored in the seat during the day. At night I would place them where the bed would fold out, them fold out the bed. The bedboard would then rest on the legs. The legs are not attached to anything, there are loose. This is a cheap and easy way to make a very sturdy bed.

My fridge was an electric one, more of a cooler than a fridge, but it did fine. Next time I think I would fit a proper gas (3-way) fridge.

Carpet by the kitchen wasn't any problem at all. The stove had a back plate that stopped any heat or steam getting to the carpet.

Cheers, Darren

Thanks for a very inspiring site, my head is now buzzing with great ideas for my tatty little van.
