Water Pump?

Hi there.

We have just bought a Ford Transit Autosleeper conversion for a European trip. We are first time owners and are currently trying to work things out!

Its a 1988 model and seems to have been well loved in its time, but whilst trying to work the water pump this morning, nothing seems to be happening! We have filled the tank with a few liters and pressed the switch on the control panel that operates the pump. This makes a sound as though it works, but yet no water comes from the tap.

Any ideas? We're complete novices at this and so any help at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen.

Hi. Are you using the kitchen tap? Does the tap have a switch on it? Maybe there is a switch on the cupboards that activates the tap pump?

possible air lock

try opening all your taps/shower toilet then see if the pump pumps the water through depends if you a switched pump via micro switches on the taps etc or a full pressure system which should just flow out when the system is operated

Hi guys. Thanks for your

Hi guys.

Thanks for your replies!

The van only has one tap, and after a bit of examination it seems to run soley from a 'water-pump' switch on the main control panel above the fridge. There is no switch on or around the sink.

The tap itself is a plastic thing which moves up or down depending on whether the sink top is up or down. We have tried moving it about to see if a certain position unlocks/opens it, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

When we press the water-pump switch it makes a noise as though it is working, but no water comes out. We have filled up the tank with enough water too.

From all I have read and from what you have said, I'm assuming we have a full-pressure system, and with no water coming out I guess we have a blockage?!!!

Any ideas where to go from here? Do I need to get underneath the van to the main water tank?

Thanks for your help,

Jen.

water pump

Hi. Could be an airlock in the system. Try disconnecting the discharge hose from the pump and blowing very hard down it with the tap open. This worked for me and now I keep the pump on - a micro-switch turns it on and off when pressure demands.

its a long shot but you could

its a long shot but you could try blowing back through the tap. if the blockage is on the pump inlet it might dislodge it. if it clears it then it just going to be a case of flushing the tank rather than pulling stuff apart.

gas hobs

Hello there,

I wonder if anybody can help. I just bought a new campingaz bottle for my Ford transit campervan and switched on the gas hobs for the first time successfully but when i turn them off there's a popping sound that gave me quite a fright! I can switch them back on with no problem but every time i turn it off it's the same thing. I thought it could be because the gas bottle is full but i don't really know.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks so very much,

Daniela

water tank drain tap

Hi, please can anyone help? We have just bought an old Renault Trafic Autosleeper Rimini 1992 reg and everything works perfectly, except that the drain tap has broken off the water tank under the van! Has anyone had any experience of this? We don't seem to be able to remove the broken part of the tap and have no idea if this could be replaced or if we have to get a whole new tank - hope not! Any help, suggestions would be much apreciated.
