Water freezing
My van's water tank is on the exterior. This is a problem when I go skiing in the Alps as it freezes. Is it possible to buy and fit a 12volt warming element to prevent this? Anyone got any ideas which will help. I have been told to add vodka to the tank but I don't wish to get drunk every time I clean my teeth.
Could you not buy a cylinder jacket to wrap round it, then over the top of that wrap a waterproof membrane to prevent ingress of snow etc damaging the jacket?
OR build a thermal box for it to go in out of ply and polystyrene lining?
Thanks. If I cannot get a water heater for it then your suggestion of insulating it might be the only answer
I'm still liking the vodka idea....
You can buy anti-frost elements for water tanks. http://www.caktanks.co.uk/ sell them. Download their catalogue and search for frost.
It's quite a bit of work to frost proof a camper van. You'll need lots of lagging on any pipes, anti-frost element on the fresh water tank, Most people leave their waste tank tap open, with a bucket underneath. Then empty the bucket whenever it thaws.
HI Darren. Thanks for the contact I think they have what I need. Campervan Dave
