My girlfriend and I recently bought a Leyland Daf 200 high top which has been converted from an H.M. Coastguard minibus. We absolutely love it and have already started putting our own mark on it by covering the interior with fabrics and pictures. It's a very basic conversion with no toilet (so we have portaloo) or shower, just a two ring hob, sink with water pump and lights. A zig unit is installed and we have the option of electrical hook-up, though we tend not to use it. I recently built a fold away table for it, the van didn't have one as it is so small but after much thought I came up with a solution. The van is 17 years old and has areas of rust that are typical on a vehicle this age but given the low mileage, my aim is to get the necessary welding done over the next couple of years and then a respray. It also has a dent in the driver's door so I need a new one if anyone can help! We've had the van for two months and have been to Dorset in it three times. I love the way driving a van like this calms you down and you never feel in a hurry. I use it to get to work too (as we sold the car to buy it) and always arrive in a good mood these days!
