Sorry

Hi. Sorry, don't have too much information at the moment. The transit is a great, reliable vehicle, but watch out for rust, which is definitely their weakest point.
We have some Ford Transit information.

Hi All

I have just purchased a VW campervan, although she had already been converted (cheat no:1) i am working hard on her, she has been very 'pinked up' (sorry guys) but she is fab. The biggest problem I have is the body work she is very rusty. I have looked on many sites and have found a new door, but have you any hints on cheap ways of doing her up. The end of the dip stick has also broken off and am unable to get it out.
I am not too sure how to put photos on here but will have a look.

Hi selinaguess Great to hear

Hi selinaguess

Great to hear you have a camper van!
Rust is a really big problem and I would suggest getting it sorted soon, as it gets harder and more expensive to fix as time goes buy.
If you want to learn how to fix the rust yourself go for it, it's not so hard and doesn't cost too much, as long as the rust is just on the surface. If the floor or structure of the van is rusty it can be a expensive jon.
Try some of these links

If you aren't up for fixing it yourself you need to get someone to do it for you. A local guy with the right tools will be able to do it a lot cheaper than a formal garage, but find someone trustworthy who has a good reputation.

Some long nosed pliers may be able to get the dipstick out, if not a local mechanic or garage who can do it for you for little money. Make sure you get a new one to replace it! Try a local breakers.

I'm working on something to add photos at the moment.

Thanks for info

Hi Darren
Thanks for the links I will give them a go. People are starting to give me names of local machanics. I am not sure how bad the rust is but there are holes in her body. I am going to try and get some quotes and look at what I can afford in the new year. Thanks again for your help, I will keep you posted on Elaie-May's progress.
Selina :)
