Still searching, pondering budget

Well I'm still pondering what type of camper to get, but for now I think I've narrowed it down to a VW pop-top.
The big question is can I get something reliable for 3-4k? I'm thinking T25.
Bearing in mind I won't be tinkering with it myself, though I will certainly search out a local specialist to maintain it for me.
One of the reasons I'm thinking VW is I've heard parts are relatively cheap and easy to come by. I'll be giving up my Merc estate when I buy, which I love for sheer reliability and solidity but if you do need to replace a part it can be pricy.
Thoughts anyone? Still nervous about my choice, still determined to do it!
Cheers all.

Hi

£3 - 4 K does get you a T25 or a T4 if you look around and get one that someone has converted at home.

Try these

See these searches for more:

Whilst some Mercedes parts are more expensive than VW, they are more reliable.
I do my own vehicle work and find Mercedes no more expensive than VW. Cheaper on some parts. These guys have cheap VW and Mercedes parts www.eurocarparts.co.uk

You can get Mercedes campers in your price range, but they tend to be bigger vehicles:

Thanks for those pointers

Thanks for those pointers Darren, appreciate it.
Basically I think I would go for either make if I found something with the right configuration - hoping for a pop-top so my son can sit up there and play or read if necessary, also proper seating for passengers - so I can carry four people forward facing with 3-point seatbelts (or option of putting these in).
The search goes on!
