New to campervans - what van should I buy?

Hello,

My wife and I have decided this is the year we're defiantly going to buy a campervan. We've got a budget of £10,000 absolute maximum and want something that's going to be robust enough to do 3-4 week trips around Europe.

I've been looking at the VW t4 autosleeper - The Trooper, as I think the high-top wouldn't fit in our garage. Plus I've been told that Autosleepers retain their value better than other conversions.

We also have a 'wish list' of things we'd like to have:

*enough room to stand up
*grill, as well as a hob
*low(ish) milage
*heating (so we can go away in the winter)

Any advice / ideas would be very welcome. Can we get all that for our budget - and be buying a solid van that isn't going to give us loads of mechanical problems?

Thank you very much in advance!

Jon.

Hi Jon

If you are after a vehicle that will fit in your garage, then the Trooper is a good choice. It's a popular vehicle, and the roof option is good for you.
First thing to do though is double check the heigh tof a Trooper, and make sure it will fit in your garage.

VWs are reliable and hold their value very very well, so a good choice.
Also consider the pop-top VWs.

You can almost always add heating to a van. Propex or Eberspächer blown heating are the best.
