How to get water hot or cold to work?
Hi all I'm new to camper vans having just bought the above, I believe the make is relatively obscure and reading a review of the same it is classed as a budget camper van.
That said I like it it has a large (Camper van standards) shower and toilet area and all the basics I wanted. Trouble is despite reading many or the manual I have no idea how to get running water hot or cold.
Yes I have put water in the tank and turned on the taps and a pump but all I hear is gurgling noises. Any help or ideas welcome.
Thanks in advance. Jim
To be honest I have no idea really, from a guide in a review mag it states: Water heater gas-only operation, capacity 10 litres. Fresh water tank: Inboard mounted, 125 litres Fresh water level gauge on control panel, push to read, graduated LED display Waste water tank: Outboard mounted, underfloor behind rear axle, capacity 105 litres I have no idea about pumps or filters. I am getting a habitation check done after Xmas so hopefully I will know soon enough.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Like lazarus says: If there is water in the tank, and the filters are clear, it should pump, not just gurgle. If the filters are clear, I suspect the pump is damaged.
I bet it is something simple. turning a valve the wrong way but who knows.
Ah. There might be isolation taps to stop the flow of water. Follow the path of the pipes and see if you can find a tap, check its position.
I have an old merc 207d all the stuff on it is basic. If I haven't had water in my tank or I have let it run dry and fill it I have to turn the pump on and suck the water through my tap until it splashes out siphoning style. It works though and worth a try I think my pump may be a bit weak and sounds like yours might be and have to help it through once its through though its ok if a little low pressured.
whatever, don't let the pump drive dry as it will damage it. A new costs ca. 30-50 english in that size.

Camper Van Life is brought to you by Darren Lambert, a big fan of camper vans.
gurgling sounds like either water isn't getting into the pump so check intake filters (if there are any in your setup) or possibly seals in the pump could have gone. if there has been water in the pump and its frozen that could easily kill it. If you have a little bit more info on how your camper is set up i can probably suggest some ways of testing it. are the tanks inside or outside, is the pump submersible and drops in from the top or inline and feeding from and outlet on the bottom of the tank or some thing else entirely. the more info you can give the easier it is to diagnose.
