Hi
We have an 06 plate vw caravelle, we haven't converted it but have just put an sca roof on it and plan to keep it like that, so we can use it as a car for normal use and then camp in it the rest of the time.

We have just had our tax through and it £445!!!! Does anyone know of any way that we can reduce our tax? I think if we had bought the van 2 weeks later it would be half the price! Can we get it re-classed to make it cheaper or do something to the engine? its a 2.5 diesel
many thanks, really grateful for any replies!

no!

All to do with your co2 emissions and year of reg. (2006 in your case)

Your V5 will state the listed co2 emission figure which dictates the tax payable.

It Seems

To be when the vehicle is registered it can not be changed from that. For example my Renault Kangoo cost £210 per year the rest only cost £115 a year. Only for a period of 6 months some Kangoo Commercials coped for that taxation. Typical hye! So my advice like I am doing Tax once and then change the vehicle like I am doing. I was caught out because I look on the site and thought I was on the cheaper Vehicle Taxation, hence why I bought the van in the first place.
