Help with buying 1st 'Semi' Camper
Hi all, i'm new to the camper world so be gentle with me!!! i'm looking to buy a 'semi' camper if there is such a thing, a van that can be used as an everyday vehicle with a rock'n'roll bed and mains for electric and water and perhaps small cooking facility. always liked v dubs so looking at maybe T4, should have done it years ago but now at 36 having a 5 yr old son it seems like a good idea, just after some thoughts and mainly costs. Cheers, Deano.
thanks for your reply, i never thought about the hi-ace powervan is not a bad looking vehicle, especially as the veedubs hold their price so much, would only be looking at a 'semi conversion' as wouldnt want a big van, so someone's home conversion would be ok not looking to stand up at this stage. the main reason i was looking into is because it seems to be a nice option with a young son to go away for weekend etc, i live in norfolk and now work 65 miles away on the border of cambs/beds, fed up with the every day commute, so thought i could combine the 2 by getting a semi camper to sleep in 3 or 4 nights a week, assuming i can then find a site who would be ok with this. thanks, D

Camper Van Life is brought to you by Darren Lambert, a big fan of camper vans.
Hi Deano
If you're after a vehicle you can drive much like a car, good speed, mpg and easy to park, and can camp in, then the VW is a good choice. Also consider the Toyota HiAce which is a great van, but you'll find less of them as camper vans.
All VWs hold their value very well. A 1996'ish T4 will cost at least £2,000. For a good one you'll need to spend more.
T5s are generally around £5,000+, but as their newer they are of course more expensive.
Are you looking for a professional conversion that you can stand up in, or a more simple conversion that someone might have done at home?
