I forgot to take pictures of the kitchen whilst I was making it.
Hi Darren I am interested to know how the bed is supported when opened on the side near the door. I assume this opens into a double bed.
ALos do you find it is uncomfortabel to sit on the sofa as its not inclined? any tips on this?
Fianlly can you please recommend where to get materal fabric and foam for the bed?
I really love your conversion and will be basing my LDV conversion on yours
Thanks for your help and a great website
The bed does make into a double. It is very simple. 3 hinges hold a piece of plywood to the top of the seat. This hinges out and I use 5 cut-off fence posts to support the folded out bed.
It's a very simple way of supporting the bed, but very reliable and will never break. It's also very cheap and strong.
The bed posts just store in the seat.
I have attached an image so that you can see a simple drawing of how it works.
Sitting on the seats is fine for a few hours. Any more became a little uncomfortable.
Reclining the rear cushion would help a little I think, but the cushions were quite soft.
If you don't intend to sit all day I wouldn't worry to much. If you want ultra comfort recline the rear cushion a little.
Foam can be found on eBay and from local suppliers. Fabric the same. Some people buy a king size bed set and use it to make cushions covers.
I bought my cushions already made, as they were from a caravan
The link below should help with foam
Buying an existing set of cushions saves a lot of time. Try a local caravan break for cushions also.
All the best
