Hi,

Just bought a second hand fiat ducato motor home and I am very new to all the gadgets. Can someone please help?

A few things have come to light:

1. My lights only work when the engine is running
2. When I use the electric hook up the lights don't work, but plug sockets do.
3. The water pump only works when the engine is running.

I do have a leisure battery - does this mean it is not connected or just simply not working?

The only thing that is working off the electric hook up are the plug sockets.

I have an electrolux ignition fridge does this only run off gas and does if have nothing to do with the electric hook up or battery? How does it keep cool when I'm moving then?

Can anyone help me to get started please?

One very confused young woman.

Hi Ceri The lights and water

Hi Ceri

The lights and water pump should work from the leisure battery. So either there is a switch you need to turn on to allow those electrical items to use the leisure battery, or more likely is that the leisure battery is not working anymore, or needs reconnecting. If you are not confident with 12v electrics I would recommend you visit a motorhome service center or caravan workshop and ask them to investigate. it should cost a lot, as they can probably diagnose a problem with the battery quickly.

Your fridge probably works off gas (when wild camping or in a field without power) 240v (when on a campsite) and 12v (when driving along). What model of fridge is it? The motorhome service centre would also be able to help you with that.
