I have put diesel into my van's fresh water tank. The van is a Bilbo's 'breakaway' conversion and the tank is 57 litre capacity, held under the van's chassis.

How do I clean the tank out?

You need to drain the liquid

You need to drain the liquid that is in there at the moment, without using the internal pipes. So disconnect the exit pipe of the tank and flush out the liquid with clean water using the tank filler.

Once you've emptied the tank you need to clean the diesel that will have stuck to the sides. Lots of suggestions on the internet, as it's a common thing on boats. A lot of people say to use dishwasher liquid.
