Cupboard Doors etc.
Hi All
Is there a concensus about what to use for cupboard doors when DIYing a camper?
I have been considering these options:
1. Buy doors/drawer fronts from wickes/B&Q etc
...nice finish, limited sizes, rather heavy
2. make my own using picture frame backed with maybe hardboard
... lightweight and tailored to fit but might look a bit too diy
3. Some other option - can you buy lightweight doors anywhere, cheaply?
Cheers

9mm, or 12mm plywood is a good option (see first pic). It cab be difficult to mount hinges on 9mm wood as it's a bit thin. But these doors fit nice and flush
Making a timber frame and filling the gap with hardboard is another popular option. Easy to mount hinges in the timber, but they take up more room.
Also popular is cutting a rounded door out of the plywood and mounting it back in its hole. Again, not easy with the hinges, but they take the least room and can look nice.
I like the middle one. I might use the smallest door architrave I can find for the frame, like a picture frame and back it with thin ply, veneered if I can source it.

I used 9mm plywood and painted it white, Its half way between DIY and Pro. You need to give them 2 coats of undercoat and we went for a matt finish. I left the door a half inch longer than the bottom of the overhead unit so you dont need handles. Try one out and see your self. not thing to lose but a small rectangle of ply.
